Harris Leflore Coleman – Obituary

Harris Leflore Coleman was born in Greenwood, Miss. on April 3, 1926. His parents were Teresa Harris Barrentine and Oliver Sidney Coleman. He graduated from Greenwood High School, Greenwood, MS in 1943, received an Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Navy July 1947, and graduated from Delta State Teachers College, Cleveland, MS in 1949. On May 19, 1956 he married Martha Jean Keen of Weir, MS. Their lives together took them to several homes in the Southeast. In May 2011 they moved to Florence, AL. He moved once more on July 5, 2012 to a more wonderful place in Heaven where he joins his beloved wife, Jean, and his Lord, Jesus Christ.

He attended Highland Baptist Church with his daughter’s family in Florence, AL. He was a well-loved member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Greenwood, MS where a memorial service will be held on Saturday July 14, 2012 at 2pm. His dear friend and Pastor, Reverend Randy Thompson of First Presbyterian Church in Tuscumbia, AL, will officiate.

He is survived by his son, Harris L. Coleman, Jr. of Memphis, TN; his daughter, Elizabeth and her husband Dr. Keith Thompson of Florence, AL; and two beloved granddaughters, Rebekah and Hannah Grace Thompson of Florence, AL.
