haroldFuneral services for Harold Wayne Smith, 82, of Falkville, will be conducted Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at 11AM at Peck Funeral Home in Hartselle, Alabama. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 12, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. A graveside ceremony will be conducted at Piney Grove Cemetery in Falkville, Alabama immediately following the funeral service. Pallbearers will be Jim Smith, Jerry Daniel Smith, Dr. Steve Smith, Justin Brewer, Thomas Brewer, and Mardy Brammer. 
Mr. Smith, who died Sunday, August 10, 2014, at his residence, was born June 2, 1932, in Decatur, Alabama to Pleasant Wyatt “PW” Smith and Myrtle Francis Smith. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, worked at Hayes Aircraft in Birmingham, Alabama during the 1950s, and then worked at Chrysler Corporation in Huntsville, Alabama for 28 years until his retirement in 1988. After his retirement he was a common fixture at Lacon Trade Day. He was preceded in death by both parents, one sister Jean Summers, and six brothers, Avery, Chester, Frank, Ted, Dudley Jackson “DJ”, and William “Bubby” Smith. 
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Paula Thomas Smith; three sons, Wayne (spouse Martha), Jerry, and Tim Smith (spouse Angie); one daughter, Monica Brewer (spouse Herman); one sister, Christine Newman; ten Grandchildren, Maria Daws, Stormy Smith, Christopher Smith, Jerry Daniel Smith, Christy Howard, Thomas Brewer (spouse Crissy), Julie Brewer, Justin Brewer (spouse Tesha), Jim Smith (spouse Amanda), and Hillary Yost (spouse Josh); twelve Great-grandchildren, Logan Howard, Caleb Howard, Avery Brewer, Mason Brewer, Cayden Brewer, Ava Brewer, Hagen Smith, Brantsen Smith, Addisen Smith, Piper Yost, Mackenzie Yost, and Sadie Yost. 
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of the Valley at PO Box 2745, Decatur, Alabama 35602.
