Harold Wade Bates, 83 of Elkmont, passed away on Monday, February 28th, 2022, at Athens Limestone Hospital. Mr. Bates was born on September 4th, 1938, to Willis Erskin Bates and Oma Clem Bates.
Mr. Bates is survived by his sons Stan Bates (Anita), Steve Bates (Beth), and Joe Bates (Alicia); sister Julia Wales (Jerry); grandchildren Jacob Bates (Rose), Will Bates, Ashley Brazeal (Brad), Ruth Ann Bates, Stephanie Bates, Emma Bates, and Jud Bates; and great-grandchildren Kate Brazeal and Adalynn Brazeal.
Preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Margaret Bates.
Funeral services for Mr. Bates will be Friday, March 4th, 2022, at 11:00am at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home, with Steve Ferguson and Bill Cantrell officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, March 3rd, from 5:00-7:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family, and honorary pallbearers will be Dewayne Blankenship and Bobby Hill.
Mr. Bates was a member of Elkmont Church of Christ. He loved the town of Elkmont and was involved with everything, especially the schools.
