Harold Ray “Bear” Browning age 68 of Athens, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Limestone Health Facility. Mr. Browning was born June 30, 1945 in Limestone County to Benton Browning and Annie Willis Browning.
Services for Mr. Browning are Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Sardis Spring Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. He will lie-in-state from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be Friday, January 31, 2014 at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be in Sardis Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Bro. Tim Keenum and Bro. Charles Simmons officiating.
He was a lifetime member of Sardis Springs Baptist Church. He graduated from East Limestone High School. He retired from Amoco in Decatur. He enjoyed photography.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Browning; son, Dewayne Browning and wife Dianna; daughters, Gayla Patterson and husband Wayne, Melanie Daniel and husband Donnie, Lisa Norton and Cathy Pirtle and husband Gregg; brother, Donnie Browning and wife Sally; sister, Shirley Dilworth and husband Harold; grandchildren, Chris Browning, Robert “Pete” Browning, Karyl Haynes, Genie Padilla, Monica Collier, Eric Collier, Anna Kate Patterson, Josie Patterson, Kristen McCubbins, Whitney Burchell, Caleb Pirtle, Baylee Pirtle and Nick Daniel; 9 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be his Amoco Co-workers. Honorary Pallbearers will be his Coffee Pot Friends.
