Harold Jay Lindsay, 75, passed away Saturday, March 18, 2023 at his home with his family by his side.  He was born in Independence, KS to David Isaac and Myrtle Irene Ballard Lindsay.  He enlisted in the Army in January 1966 and proudly served until September 1974.  His tour of duty took him to Vietnam, Thailand, Korea, Belgium and 4 stateside assignments.  He owned his own business, Jay’s Fiberglass Repair, for over 20 years.  He was a member of Red Bay Free Will Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be Monday, March 20, 2 p.m. at Red Bay Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. John McClure and David Corum officiating.  Burial with military honors will be at Red Bay City Cemetery.  Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his wife, Edith Lindsay; son, Steve and Charri Lindsay; five grandchildren, Deandra Wilson (Christian) of Dover, TN, Kendra Massey (Tyler) of Red Bay, AL, Daniel Lindsay (Darby) of Muscle Shoals, AL, Krista Lindsay and David Lindsay both of Gallatin, TN; two great-grandsons, Duncan Jay Lindsay and Myles Maxon Massey and one sister, Phyllis Nolan of Whitewater, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Iva Simmons, May Brannan, Freda Winkleman and Alice Christlieb and brothers, Samuel Lindsay, Lan Lindsay and Dee Lindsay.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Lindsay, David Lindsay, Christian Wilson, Tyler Massey, Paul Danley and Chris Wright.  J.B. Lindsay will serve as honorary pallbearer.

Visitation will be Monday, March 20, 12-2 at Red Bay Free Will Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Jude Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or stjude.org.
