Harold J. Gaught

Mr. Harold J. Gaught, age 85 of Vernon, AL, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at Windsor Place in Columbus.

Mr. Harold was born to J.G. and Bettie Fay Smith Gaught December, 29, 1935.  He attended Lamar County High School, then served his country for 20 years in the United States Military.  Several of those tours were spent in Vietnam during the Vietnam Conflict.  He was a member of the Vernon Church of Christ, and he loved his church family.  He has been a resident of Windsor Place Nursing Center for the past few years.  While there, he made numerous friends with the residents and staff.  This was truly his new home and his new family where the love for him was shown.  Everyone loved Mr. Harold, and he will be missed.

Mr. Harold was preceded in death by his parents; his infant brother, Eugene Gaught; his infant nephew, Alex Gault; Annie Lee Gaught Collins; and John Gaught.

Funeral services will be Saturday, at 2:00 PM, in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home, with Eddie Finch officiating.  Burial will follow at Furnace Hill.  Visitation will be Saturday, 1:00-2:00, prior to the service.

Survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Peggy Gault of Hamilton, MS; his nephew, David Gault, of Northport, AL; and his special friends, Mary Lou Young Fabian, and Carroll “Hoot” and Joyce Gibson.
