Harold Hargrove – Obituary

Harold Hargrove, age 84, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016. Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 29, 2016, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel, with services to follow at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens. Brother Brett Pittman will be officiating.
Mr. Hargrove was a graduate of Coffee High School, where he lettered in three sports. He went on to play football for the University of North Alabama. Throughout his life he was a dedicated Alabama sports fan and an avid golfer. He retired from BellSouth and served as a past president of the Telephone Pioneers.
Mr. Hargrove was a longtime member of Highland Park Baptist and community volunteer for Ivy Green. He served as a past president of the local Masonic lodge and was also a member of the UNA National Alumni Association, Sportsman Club, Lion’s Club, VFW and the American Legion.
Mr. Hargrove was preceded in death by his parents, William and Vella Rhee Hargrove; brother, Weyman “Wink” Hargrove; and his sister, Dorris Ann Strickland.
Survivors are wife of 59 years, Elizabeth Nesbitt Hargrove; son, Steve Hargrove (Larry); daughter, Beth Hargrove Sanderson (Tyler); granddaughter, Julia Elizabeth Sanderson; brother, W.C. Hargrove; and numerous nieces and nephews.
