Funeral service for Harold Gene Lowery, age 83, of Decatur will be 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Enon Baptist Church, with Rev. Steve Ledbetter officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Enon Baptist Church. Interment will be in Enon Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Lowery, who died Sunday, May 19, 2024, at NHC Healthcare, was born June 8, 1940, to Carson and Ludie Lowery. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patricia Sue (Knight) Lowery; and brother, Reginald Lowery.
Mr. Lowery was a retired Air Force veteran. He served as a crew chief/mechanic for two engine fighter jets for most of his career. An active member at Enon Baptist Church, he worked with seniors for many years. He was a life long gardener and could grow anything green. He maintained a garden everywhere he lived and every home had beautiful flowers and shrubs. He also loved to cook and grill for large family/friend gatherings and the bigger the crowd the more he enjoyed it. His greatest pride was all of his grandchildren and their successes in life.
He is survived by two sons, Bob Lowery (Jan) and David Lowery; daughter, Renee Lowery; two sisters, Molly Wynn (Larry)and Doris Brown (Larry); eight grandchildren, Jolena Tanner (William), Lyndsay Pridgen (Joel), Morgan Lee Lowery, Theo Cross (Alex), Whitney Lowery, Samson Lowery, Tiffany Lowery, and Ryder Lowery; and great-grandchild, Esmeray Tanner.
Pall bearers will be Dave Lowery, Andy Lowery, Wilbur Wynn, Thomas Wills, Bob Lowery, Pat Hjelm.
