Harold Edward “Big H” McConnell, 80, of Anderson, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving wife and four daughters. He was a graduate of Lauderdale County High School, member of Union Hill CP Church and retired from GM, Decatur. Mr. McConnell was a true cowboy; roping, training horses and rodeos. He enjoyed farming, watching his grandchildren play sports but most of all spending time with his family he loved so much.

A visitation will be Saturday, April 29th from 11 – 1 at Rogersville Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow in the chapel with Chuck Hood officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jonathan Hendricks, Ryan Cole, Trey Gargis, Jaret Britt, Ryan Britt and Gabe Tribble. Honorary pallbearers will be Buddy Blackburn, Johnny Walker, Keith Fagan, Moe McCain, Reggie Blankenship and Marshall Hall.

Mr. McConnell was preceded in death by his parents, Porter and Lerlene McConnell; wife, Brenda Webb McConnell; brothers, Jimmy McConnell and Dwight McConnell; sister, Glenda Kennemer. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Williams McConnell; daughters, Kim McConnell Hammond (Mark), Amy McConnell Gargis (Jeff), Stacy McConnell Tribble (Chad) and Jill McConnell Britt (Jimmy); son, Danny Porter; grandchildren, Katelyn Hendricks (Jonathan), Karoline Hammond (Ryan Cole), Trey Gargis (Lauren), Gracie Tribble, Gabe Tribble, Jaret Britt, Ryan Britt, Amber Porter and Hunter Porter; great-granddaughter, “Babydoll” Helen Hendricks; sister-in-law, Oneta McConnell; brothers-in-law, Ted Kennemer, Don Williams (Sharon) and Ron Williams (Martha); numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express special thanks to Brandi McCravy, Gail, Shelia, Amanda and the staff at Shoals Hospice.
