Harold Benson Wallace – Obituary

Harold Benson Wallace, 78, of Decatur, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2013, at home. Mr. Wallace was a lifelong resident of Decatur. He was a graduate of Decatur High School and Auburn University.

He is survived by his loving wife, Nita Frenzel Wallace; sons, Harold Clark Wallace (Kathy) and James Benson Wallace (Wanda); daughters, Lucy Wallace Edwards (Chip) and Elizabeth Frenzel-Wallace McCarty (Bill); grandchildren, Brannon Wallace, Hannah Wallace, Emily Wallace, Jessica McCarty, Margaret McCarty, and William Wallace Edwards; two sisters, Nell Clem and Betty Thrasher (Gilbert); sisters-in-law, Bettye Ann Wallace, Wynell Chapman (Larry), Patsy Williams (Benny); and many special nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by daughter, Robin Frenzel Wallace; father, John Eugene Wallace; mother, Julia Weatherwax Wallace; stepmother, Dolly Wallace; two brothers, John Thomas Wallace (Edna Earl) and Marion Lee “Bebe” Wallace; and brother-in-law, Charles Clem.

The family wishes to express their deep appreciation for the love and talent shared by his caregivers over the last few years. Janet Smith, Annette Powell, Celeste Harris, Alberta White, Delois Edwards, Tania Ford, and Laverne Byrd. Special thanks to Evelyn Rice of Alacare Hospice and Dr. Pjm Reddy.

Pallbearers will be: Alan Thrasher, Billy Wallace, Andy Wallace, Jerry Busby, Julious Barrett, Ron Earley, Melvin Russell, and David Duke.

Services for Mr. Wallace will be Monday, April 1, 2013, at Stephenson Chapel at First Baptist Church. Visitation will be at 11 a.m. and funeral to follow at noon. Burial will be later in the day at Moulton Memory Gardens, Moulton AL.
