Graveside services for Mr. Harlan Shaddix, age 84 of Ashland, will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at 4:00 P.M. at the Clay County Memory Gardens.

Mr. Shaddix passed away on Monday, July 5, 2021 at his home. Mr. Shaddix was born and raised in clay county, and spent four years of his life in the U.S. Navy. He was stationed in California and spent most of time as a boiler room technician. After exiting the Navy, he spent most of his life working for Parker Logging as a Skidder driver. Mr. Shaddix loved Alabama football, cutting grass, doing his puzzle books, and loved playing with his grandchildren. He was a loving Husband, Father, and grandfather. He was a member and 35+ year deacon for Victory Baptist Church.

Mr. Shaddix is survived by his wife of over 55 years, Betty McCain Shaddix; one daughter, Karen Surrett (Tim); two sons: Jeff Shaddix (Vicky) and Dale Shaddix (Stephanie), all of Ashland; 5 grandchildren: Christi Haynes (Josh) of Enterprise, Jake Surrett (Teron), Gage Shaddix, Grayce Shaddix, and Kason Shaddix, all of Ashland; three great-grandchildren: Caden Haynes, Rylee Haynes, and one on the way; two sisters: Gail McCain (Willard) of Ashland, and Kay Royster of Alexander City; plus a large extended family.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Marion Thomas Shaddix and Nettie Francis Germany Shaddix; two brothers: Hershel and Jimmy Wayne Shaddix; and one brother in law, Bobby Royster.

Active pallbearers will be Jeff Shaddix, Dale Shaddix, Tim Surrett, Jake Surrett, Gage Shaddix, and Kason Shaddix.

A visitation will take place on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland from 2:00 P.M. until service time at 4:00 P.M.
