Funeral services for Gwendolyn Parrish Willis, 91, of Lineville, AL will be Saturday, August 2, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland. Officiating will be Dr. Robert A. Klotz and providing music will be Ken and Charlene Yates. Burial will follow at Clay County Memory Gardens.
Gwendolyn Parrish Willis passed away July 18, 2025, in League City, Texas. Born April 22, 1934, in Bremen, Georgia, Gwen was raised in Lineville, Alabama. She graduated with a degree in education from the University of Alabama and taught elementary school in Tuscaloosa, Pensacola, Talladega, and on base in both Germany and San Antonio, Texas.
Gwen was a faithful military wife to her husband Bob Willis, and was known for her southern hospitality and excellent cooking. They were stationed all over the world, and she made every house a home for her family.
After retirement, Bob and Gwen returned to Alabama, living first in Prattville, and settling back home in Lineville where she and Bob continued to enjoy traveling, collecting antiques, and most importantly spending time with both friends and family whom they loved.
Gwen was preceded in death by her parents Ollie Parrish and Dorothy Adams Parrish, her husband Robert H. Willis, her brother Sonny Parrish, and her son-in-law Mark Klotz.
She is survived by her two daughters Robin Willis Klotz and Jay Willis McAndrew (Thomas); six grandchildren Robert Klotz (Heather), Walter McAndrew (Anna), Sarah-Beth Dailey (Scott), Madeline McAndrew, Olivia McAndrew, and Benjamin Klotz; eight great-grandchildren Hannah Klotz, Leah Klotz, Esther Klotz, Teddy Torres, Henry Torres, Tommy McAndrew, Penelope McAndrew, and Paxton Dailey; and beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and life-long friends.
Her family would like to express special, heart-felt thanks to the nursing staff at The Crossings for their kindness and care in her last days.
The family will receive visitors beginning from 10:00 until service time at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 2nd at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland.
