Gwendolyn D. Batson passed from this life on April 8, 2013. Gwen was a graduate of Sheffield High School, Sheffield, Ala., and Harding University, Searcy, Ark., and a retired school administrator in special education for Palm Beach County, Fla. A member of the Church of Christ, Gwen attended the Wood Avenue congregation for several months each year in her Florence, Ala. home.
Gwen was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Batson; her parents, Terry F. and Beuna V. Davis; her brother, Robert Hays Davis.
Gwen is survived by her brother, Kenneth Davis (Mary Ann), Florence, Ala.; nieces; and nephews; special nieces and loving caregivers, Brenda Myrick and Melanie Phillips.
The family wishes to thank Karen Rumph and Linda Roberson for their kind and compassionate attendance to Gwen’s needs.
A graveside service and burial beside her husband in Magness Cemetery, Wilburn, Ark., is planned for Saturday, April 20, 2013.
