Gwendola Camp, 93, died Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born April 28, 1920, in Itawamba County to William Cleveland “Cleve” McMillen and Daisy Hardin McMillen. She retired from the United States Postal Service as Mantachie postmaster in 1988 after 20 years of service. She was a long-time member of Mantachie United Methodist Church where she was an active member of the U.M.W. She was a charter member of the Mantachie Pilot Club and a member of the Mantachie Homemaker’s Club. She served as treasurer for the Itawamba County Historical Society for 20 years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed quilting, cooking, traveling, and working in her yard. She loved supporting her children and grandchildren in all their activities.

Services will be at 11 a. m. Saturday, May 4, at the Mantachie United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ron Schwake, the Rev. Ronnie Goodwin, and Dr. John Adams officiating. Burial will be in the Stephens Cemetery. McNeece-Morris Funeral Home of Mantachie is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include one son, Bill Camp (Teresa) of Mantachie; three daughters, Karen McFerrin (Joe Eddie) and Felicia Jones (Terry), both of Mantachie, and Barbara Randle of Tupelo; one brother, Loyce McMillen of Mantachie; a sister-in-law, Gladys Franks; six grandchildren, Leslie Morton (Shawn), Jodie Boyd (Garry), Matt Fennell (Julie), Dixie Westmoreland (Josh), Trae Camp (fiancee Kelley), and Tyler Camp; three great-grandchildren, Martin Boyd, Anna Karen Boyd, and Cayson Westmoreland; and her special caregiver, Angie Mills.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Herman Camp, who died in 1982; one grandson, Will Randle; one son-in-law, William Randle; and her parents.

Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p. m. Friday, May 3, at the Mantachie United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mantachie United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 33, Mantachie, MS 38855.
