Funeral for Guy Hampton Washington Jr., 88, of Madison will be Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017, at 3 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with Reverend Wally Bryant and Reverend Dr. Mike Allison officiating. Burial will be in East Lawrence Memorial Gardens with military honors. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Washington died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017 at his residence. He was born Feb. 7, 1929 in Linden, Texas to Guy Hampton Washington and Mary Elizabeth Meachem Washington. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Hemphill, Texas. Mr. Washington was a Gideon and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Kellogg Brown and Root in 1994. He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Jenell Lynn Fitzgerald and Patricia Dyan Stringer; two brothers, Travis Washington and Merril Washington; and sister, Martha Jane Washington.
Survivors include his wife, Patty McDowell Washington; son, Guy Hampton (Terri) Washington; daughter, Dixie Lee (Jerry) Warren; sister, Sara Ann White; three brothers, Jerry Washington, Don Washington and George Washington; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be David Fitzgerald, Dustin Dawson Guy Hampton Washington, IV, Brian Sharp, Jonathan Maness and Jerry W. Warren III.
