Guilford Jones Hutcheson, Jr., 78, of Huntsville, Alabama passed away May 4, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Gil Hutcheson. Guil is survived by his wife of 53 years, Catherine Hutcheson and their daughter, Laura Hutcheson.
He was born in Cleveland, Tennessee and raised in Ripley, Tennessee, the son of Guilford and Kate Hutcheson. Guil proudly earned his Eagle Scout rank as a young man. After graduating from the University of Tennessee, Guil began his almost 40 year career working for the US Army as an engineer. He also worked as a consultant for Digital Fusion and Kratos.
He had a lifelong love of the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also an active ham radio operator (N4DUG/N4UG) for over 30 years. Guil belonged to several organizations including: Tennessee Valley Fly Fishers, AIAA and VBAS.
A graveside funeral service will be held later this summer at Maple Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
