Mr. Grover Edward “Eddie” Hedgspeth, age 72, of Gadsden, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2023.
Graveside Services with Masonic Rites will be held on Saturday, July 01, 2023 at Forrest Cemetery at 10:00 a.m.
Eddie was a lifelong resident of Etowah County. He retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company and served as the Mayor of the City of Southside. Eddie was a member of Gadsden Basketball Officials Association and the Etowah County Softball Umpires Association. He was a member of Cedar Bend Lodge F & AM and was a York & Scottish Rite Mason. Eddie also served as deacon at Southside Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents James E. and Nancy S. Hedgspeth, Sr.
Eddie is survived by his daughters, Kendall Leigh Hedgspeth and Haydyn Elizabeth Hedgspeth; grandson, Kendyn Lee Hedgspeth; brother and sister-in-law, James E. and Donna B. Hedgspeth, Jr.; nephew, James E. (Claire C.) Hedgspeth, III; grand-nieces Hadley and Amelia Hedgspeth.
Pallbearers will be Masonic Brothers.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Gadsden Basketball Officials Association and the Etowah County Softball Umpires Association.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Elquis Castillo, Dr. Asif Kaleem , the staff of Amedysis Home Health and especially hospice nurses Jessica and Haley, all of whom provided Eddie such wonderful care.
