Ground Breaking for New Florence Freshman Center

Florence, Alabama – Recently Dr. Janet Womack, Superintendent of the Florence School System and Rod Sheppard, Principal of The Florence Freshman Center presided over the ground breaking ceremony for the new six million dollar Florence Freshman Center to be located on the grounds of the Florence High School.  Construction is estimated to take 12 months and when finished will be home to approximately 500 ninth grade students.

Other guests attending the ceremony were Florence’s new Mayor, Mickey Haddock, City Council Members Dick Jordan, Andy Betterton and Dave Smith, School Board President Bill Jordan, Fellow School Board members and Chamber of Commerce President Steve Holt.  In addition, several Freshman Center Teachers, Chamber of Commerce members and ambassadors were in attendance.
