Mr. Griff A. Yancey, Jr, age 90, of the Morgan City community of Union Grove, Alabama passed away on Monday evening, July 21, 2025 at Hospice Family Care in Huntsville, AL. Born October 5, 1934 in Marshall County, AL, Griff was the beloved son of Griff A. Yancey, Sr and Geller Holland Yancey. Griff’s wife, Patsy Lea Davis Yancey, preceded him in death (DOD 1/7/2020). Griff was a United States Army veteran and served as a deacon at Brindlee Mountain Baptist Church. His professional career was with Huntsville Manufacturing where he retired as a supervisor.
In his leisure time Griff enjoyed fishing, golf, traveling throughout the United States and watching Alabama football.
Family left behind to cherish their precious memories include: son, Terry Yancey (Katie Smithee); daughter, Candra Fredrick; grandchildren, Phillip Rice, Alan Yancey, and Rachael Aufdemorte (Blake); great grandchildren, Carson Rice, Ella Rice, Colton Rice, and Hudson Aufdemorte; brother, Gene Yancey; sisters, Lurleen Duncan and Mary Helen Yancey.
Griff is preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Lea Davis Yancey; mother, Geller Yancey; and father, Griff A. Yancey, Sr.
Services for Griff will be Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Brindlee Mountain Chapel in Morgan City. The family will greet friends and guests at a visitation from 12:00 noon until the funeral service begins at 1:00 pm. Burial will be in the Union Grove Cemetery at Morgan City.
