Mrs. Grelda Lynne “Purney Mae” Estes, age 76, of West Jefferson, Alabama, passed away at her home, peacefully on Friday, May 23, 2025.
Born on August 24, 1948, in Hueytown, Alabama, Grelda was the daughter of James and Amerson Boothe. She grew up in a close-knit family and shared a special bond with her sister, Gilda Staggs.
Grelda shared 59 devoted years of marriage with her beloved husband, Glenn Estes Sr. Together they built a life centered around love, family, and enduring commitment. Their union was blessed with three children: Tina Kerklin (Larry), Glenn Estes Jr. (Roxani), and Gina Estes. Grelda took great pride in her role as a mother and grandmother, cherishing every moment spent with her grandchildren- Brett, Alisha, and Samuel Kerklin; Glenn Estes III and Isabella Estes; Rebecca Kelly and Wyatt Sargent. Grelda also has numerous nieces and nephews that she loved dearly along with their parents.
She carried the memory of those who preceded her in death with grace and strength: her parents James and Amerson Boothe; her sister; Gilda Staggs; and two cherished grandchildren, Marcus Kerklin and Wyatt Sargent.
As per Grelda’s wishes she will be cremated and interred at Freewill Cemetery along side of her husband at his passing.
Grelda’s legacy lives on through the love she gave so freely to her family and the many lives she touched along the way. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
