Gregory (Greg) J Montgomery, born on June 29, 1960 in Yuba City, California; passed away peacefully on December 29, 2024 in Lebanon, Tennessee. He was a devoted father and beloved family member whose warmth and humor touched the lives of all who knew him. Greg was preceded in death by his grandparents Harold (Pappy_ and Georgia Crowl; family members, Montey and Charlotte Montgomery; his father, Jim Montgomery; mother, Judy Obbards; his brother, Douglas Montgomery; cousin, Caryn Hood; son-on-law, David Case; and his beloved wife, Elizabeth (Beth) Norman Montgomery.

Greg is survived by two sons: Derrick Montgomery and Sam Treece; step-daughter, Betsy Case of Lebanon, TN; his brother, Todd (Cindy) Montgomery of Weed, California; his sister Kimberly Obbards Moore of Bull Shoals, Arkansas; his loving step-father, Steven Obbards of Paragould, Arkansas; cherished aunts Carolyn Burns from Knights Landing, California; Lynn Bell from Arizona; Cherrie and Cindy Hood both from Yuba City, California; Chris Tabon from California; Grandchildren, Allen, Josh, and Azlee; Great-Grandchildren:, Amilia, Rosaleigh, Izabella, Maxximus, Lailah, and Lauralei; Father-in-law, Haywood Norman; Brother-in-law, Pete (MaryAnn) Norman; Sister-in-law, Dorothy Kim; and numerous nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Greg.

Greg was a proud veteran of the United States Army where he served for 10 years from 1987 to 1997 as an NBCO at Fort Bragg, where he aided in preparations for Desert Storm. During his time in training, Greg found joy in parachuting out of helicopters. His time in the service state-side also saw him stationed in Hawaii. Some of his time spent overseas included a memorable year spent in Korea, which shaped much of who he became later in life. He left the service with a rank of Sergeant, which instilled in him values such as discipline and dedication that would carry over into every aspect of his life thereafter.

After leaving the military, Greg embarked on a career as a truck driver. This profession allowed him to explore vast landscapes while meeting new people along the way. In Tennessee’s warm embrace, he settled down with his beloved wife, Beth, after meeting her at Uncle Pete’s Truck Stop in Lebanon, TN. Together, they shared laughter, which echoed along the walls of the Truck Stop, like music to everyone around them. Greg took his commitment to work very seriously. He had many hobbies, also, such as serving as 1st Vice for the local American Legion, and anything involving firearms, which brought him much excitement.

What truly mattered most to Greg was time spent with family, gathered together with loved ones and friends, and especially spending time with his Great-Granddaughter, Lailah, “his little sidekick”.

As we remember Gregory (Greg) Montgomery today, not just for what he accomplished but rather how deeply loved he was, we celebrate not only an extraordinary man but also someone whose spirit will forever remain alive within our hearts through memories made together over countless years shared among family and friends alike.
