Gregory Douglas Sutherland, 74, son of the late Anna D. Mowat Sutherland and the late Douglas Hector Sutherland, passed away on October 22, 2021, at his residence.

We invite you to celebrate his life at a memorial service Tuesday, November 2 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home in Huntsville, AL. The viewing will from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed by a chapel service at 1 p.m.

Greg was an amazing father, grandfather, best friend, and son. He had an infectious personality and his heart overflowed with care and compassion to everyone he met. Gregory lived a life of success. He achieved the ranking of Eagle Scout in 1963 and then graduated with honors from Farmington High School in 1964. Through faith, courage and with much honor, Greg served with the United States Navy from 1966-1973 spending most of his time on a submarine, the USS Haddo. His training included stops in the Great Lakes, Vallejo, Idaho Falls, New London, and Charleston.

Gregory then completed his bachelor’s degree from Ferris State University in 1978. He enjoyed his work as Chief of Nuclear Medicine, Director of Radiology and Marketing Director for MRI compatible medical equipment until retiring.

Gregory Douglas Sutherland is survived by his son, Dr. Douglas Steven Sutherland; sister, Jan Powers; and three grandchildren, Cullen, Anna Claire, and Britt.

He will be remembered as a man with unlimited kindness and optimism that lived a life for his family and those closest to him.
