Greg HowellGreg Howell, age 58, of Hornsby, departed this life on Thursday, June 16, 2002, at Bolivar General Hospital.

The son of the late Leon Howell and Jeanette Gray Gainey, who survives, he was a 1982 graduate of Bolivar Central High School, and attended Middle Tennessee State University and the University of Memphis. Greg worked as the Director of Archives for Elvis Presley Enterprises for several years. He was a website designer and graphic artist. He had lived in Hudson, New York, Nashville, and other places, but always called Hardeman County home, and
moved back home three years ago.

Greg enjoyed photography, music, classic black and white movies, and spending time with family and friends. He was proud of his Hardeman County roots and worked with many committees and organizations to promote the county and its history, freely donating his time and talents to projects. He was the co-founder and manager of the Hardeman County Genealogy Facebook page, which promotes the county’s rich history and stories across America and the world. His latest project was serving as the Chair of the Hardeman County Bicentennial Book Committee, lending his talents and expertise to compile and publish a third volume of family and community histories.

He leaves his mother and step-father, Jeanette and Lee Gainey of Hornsby; his sister, Debbie (Mark) Acosta of Crestview, FL; two brothers, Jeff Howell of Germantown and Chris (Debra Falcasantos) Howell of Cordova; half-brother, Scott (Summer) Howell of Jackson; nine nieces and nephews, Luke, Dustin, Olivia, Caroline, Mallory and Matthew Howell, Gabe, Lucie and Manny Falcasantos; and three great nieces and nephews, Lucas, Talon and Lily Howell.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his step-mother Judy Bass Howell; paternal grandparents, Willie and Gertrude Howell; and maternal grandparents, S.O. and Mary Gray.
