6560-mediumATHENS– The Athens State University Testing Center is now a Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) revised General Test exam site.  The GRE is the most widely accepted measure of a student’s readiness for graduate level work.  The exam measures verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, critical thinking, and analytical writing skills.  The GRE is a computer-based exam and will be offered at the Testing Center on select dates throughout the year.

The GRE is a national exam for graduate program admittance, and one of the admissions requirements for Athens State University’s Graduate Program in Religious Studies.  Applicants can now complete the exam on Athens State’s campus. GRE scores are accepted at thousands of institutions around the world, including more than 1,200 business schools accepting GRE scores for their MBA programs.

Currently, 97 of the 2015 U.S. News & World Report top 100 business schools in the United States and nine of the top 10 institutions on The Financial Times 2016 Global MBA Ranking accept GRE scores. In addition, 29 of Bloomberg Businessweek’s top 30 U.S. MBA programs accept GRE scores.

“We are excited to offer this additional testing service to our students and community,” states Jackie Smith, Athens State Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs.  The Testing Center plans to offer morning and afternoon administrations of the GRE.
