Grady W. Miller, age 88 of Sheffield, died Thursday, March 31, 2016. Visitation will be Saturday, 11-1 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. His funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel with his nephew, Dr. Chuck Herring officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Sheffield.
Mr. Miller was a native of Saltillo, Miss. and moved to Sheffield in 1953. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and the U. S. Navy serving during WWII. He was the owner of Metro Pipe and Supply and was in the wholesale plumbing and piping business for over sixty years. He was a member of York Terrace Baptist Church and the Sheffield Rotary Club. And was also a member of the Sheffield Masonic Lodge #503 for over fifty years. Preceding him in death were his wife, Juanita Miller; his parents, Herman and Arah Miller; brother Witt Miller; sister, Charlene Harris. He was a huge supporter of the Sheffield community, a wonderful husband, father and extraordinary PaPaw.
Survivors include his son, Mike Miller (Edith); daughters, Becky Saint (Ricky), Suzanne Wassner (Wayne); sister, Sara Simmons (Gil); grandchildren, Courtney Snipes, Megan Artz, Missy Wassner, Morgan Claunch, Coleman Miller Lucas Wassner, and Camilla Miller; great-grandchildren, Anna Kate Snipes, Emma Claire Snipes, Madeline Claunch, and Emmaline Wassner; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers are Lee Artz, Lucas Wassner, Coleman Miller, Chris Claunch, Andy Snipes, Wayne Wassner and Ricky Saint.
Honorary Pallbearers are Frank Looney, Charles Hester, James Pride, Walter Parkes, Jimmy Byrd and Joe Smith.
The family expresses special thanks to the nursing staffs of Helen Keller Hospital and Cottage of the Shoals; Drs. Kenneth Rose, Beth Raper “Hollywood Nurse” and Michael Yordy; and also for the prayers and support from all of their friends and family.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
