Grady O'dell ChapmanMr. Grady O’Dell Chapman, age 72, husband of Shirley Ann Chapman, and a resident of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at his residence.

 

The family will celebrate his life with a memorial service at a later date. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family.

 

Born on September 30, 1947 in Maury County, Grady was the son of the late Oman Chapman and the late Tena Camilla Graham Chapman. He served his country in the United States Army and previously worked at Menasha Packing Company for thirty-five years. He later worked for Smelter Service Corporation before retiring in 2012. A beloved husband and father, Grady always put his wife, children, grandchildren and family first. He was described as being the kindest, most caring and patient person who never met a stranger.

 

In addition to his wife, Shirley of fifty-two years, he is survived by his son, Clifton (Carol) Chapman of Lynnville; daughters: Amy (Carl) Sanders of Columbia, Jennifer (Shane) Gambill of Smyrna; brother, Henry Chapman of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren: Carlie Sanders, Sara Bell Chapman; and close family friend and caregiver, Tracy Monce.

 

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Charlie Zayne Beard; sister, Lillie Lucy Black; and brother, Clarence Chapman.
