Grady ReevesGrady Eugene Reeves left the earthly world November 30, 2025, to join the love of his life, May, in eternal rest. His 98-year journey on earth was marked with an unwavering love for his family. His passing has left a void in the hearts of family and friends whose lives were touched by him. Grady was born October 27, 1927, near Baskin, Louisiana to Walter William Reeves and Ruby Eppinette Reeves, and his early years were spent moving between family farms in Louisiana and Mississippi. In 1945, he was drafted into the Army and served until the end of WWII in 1947. He then reenlisted in 1955 and was stationed near Orleans, France, where he met a wonderful girl named May Michaud, who was serving in the Women’s Army Corps. They soon married, moved back to the US, and had four children together. They eventually moved to Arab, where they spent many happy years.

In the late 50s, Grady was one of five service members in his unit selected to learn to program computers. It came easily to him; he loved the work and found it fulfilling. He was particularly proud to oversee the development of a computer system that processed high-priority requests for missile parts in the Vietnam War within two hours. In 1976, Grady retired from civil service and worked for several computer contractors for the remainder of his career. He permanently retired in 1984 and spent many wonderful years with his children, grandchildren and May, who preceded him in death February 25, 2011.

Grady’s memory lives on with those who loved him, including sons: Bill (Jan) Reeves, Jim (Sherie) Reeves, Andy Reeves; daughter: Betsy Holt (Tim); brother: Bobby Reeves; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife May, his parents; brothers: Thomas, Charles, and Ronnie; sister: Juanita.

Funeral Service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Gober Funeral Chapel. The burial with military honors will be in Brookwood Cemetery, Gober Funeral Chapel directing. Visitation will be 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Gober Funeral Chapel.

Pallbearers: Daniel Reeves, Brian Reeves, Steven Reeves, Allen Reeves, Christopher Holt and Austin Holt.

Grady’s wish was that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to May’s favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
