Grady “David” Smith aka Smitty, age 69 passed away on July 14, 2024 at Helen Keller Hospital. He was born to Grady A. and Bernice Smith on March 16, 1955.
David was known as the repo man! He always loved spending time with his grandchildren and, socializing with the girls from Russellville Nutrition and 43 Grill. He never met a stranger and always had stories to tell. If he wasn’t riding the roads and the grandchildren was in school you would find him holding down a rolling chair at Auto Depot.
He was proceded in death by his parents, Grady and Bernice Smith; brother, Andrew Smith; sisters, Shirley Scott, Kathy Smith; grandson, Jordan Smith.
He is survived by his daughters, Megan Mathhues (Tyler), Haley Smith; son, David Smith (Christy); grandchildren, Caden , Saylor, Ryder, Maddy; Bonus Daughter, Amanda Gowers (Wesley); Bonus grandchildren, Ezra and Isaac.
We want to thank Michelle from Centerwell Home Health. She went above and beyond to help. She also kept me sane while dealing with Daddy’s health issues.
A memorial service will be Saturday, July 20, 2024 from 12:00 – 2:00 at Akins Funeral Home Chapel, Highway 43 South, Russellville, Alabama.
