Grady D. Smith, 91 of Dora, passed away Oct. 6, 2023 at his residence.
He was a member and Deacon at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Corner. He was a member of Acacia Masonic Lodge #670 F&AM in West Jefferson.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter; his parents, Bert and Annie Mae Smith and sisters, Rubinelle Piper, Katheryn Shipp and Loventrice Grubbs.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Elizabeth Smith; son, Larry G. Smith (Patty); granddaughter, Courtney Smith (Casey); great grandchildren, Kirsten Reed (Thomas), Jaci Nichols, Eli Smith and Taegan Smith; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be Wednesday Oct. 11, 2023 at 2:00 pm in the New Horizon Memorial Chapel. Rev. Jacob Elliott will officiate. Burial will follow in Freewill Cemetery in West Jefferson. Visitation is Wednesday from 12:30-2 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Mt. Zion Baptist Church -Youth Department.
