Gracie Mae Penn
December 20, 1924 – June 16, 2016
Mrs. Penn was born on 20-Dec-1924 to George Frank Yates and Jessie Summerford Yates. Gracie was the fourth and last child from this union. She passed away on 16-June-2016 at the Summerford Nursing Home. She was preceded into death by her parents. She was married to Raymond Hogan, Dathen Hogan, Jr, and Owen Penn.
Mrs. Penn is survived by her two children, Linda Gale Eddington and Ronnie Elmore Hogan. Linda Gale and her husband Kevin Eddington reside in Ormand Beach Florida. Ronnie, and his wife Sandra reside in Houston, Texas.
Mrs. Penn had two grandchildren, Deanna Hogan and Kevin Hogan married to Monica Tu. They all live and work in Houston Texas.
Mrs Penn was known to be a strong Christian lady, who loved to talk and sing about Jesus. Those visiting her would likely get a few verses on Jesus Loves Me or Blessed Assurance. She was 6 years old at the time of the Great Depression and was forever impacted by it molding the strength that would take her through her life. She attended school at Roundtop and Falkville and her favorite memories were of playing baseball. She worked several years at Hartselle Manufacturing and later had a small house cleaning business, all while being a Homemaker. She was well known for her cooking, especially her tea cakes.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Penn will be Sunday, June 19, 2016 at 3:00 PM in the Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be at Andrew’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 – 3:00 PM on Sunday, also at the Funeral Home.
