Gorman Wright “G.W.” Mitchell Jr., age 83, of Tuscumbia, died Saturday, Mar. 3, 2018. G.W.’s family will receive friends Tuesday, March 6th from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Ed White officiating. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery.
G.W. was a native of Colbert County and a member of Valdosta Church of Christ. He was a retired U.S. Navy veteran serving in the Korean and Vietnam Wars and a retired boilermaker. He was preceded in death by his wife; Barbara Gail Mitchell.
G.W. is survived by his sons, Billy Keith Mitchell (Pat), and Larry Barton Mitchell (Loretta); daughter, Belinda Mitchell Wright (Roger); sister, Pat Lindsey; nine grandchildren, Erik Waddell, Emmie Sherertz, Elizabeth Akins, Andrew Mitchell, Megan Mitchell Feist, Mitch Mitchell, Mitchell, Kyle, and Trey Wright; and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Andrew Mitchell, Mitch Mitchell, Mitchell Wright, Kyle Wright, Trey Wright, Erik Waddell, Will Akins, and Sam Sherertz.
