Mr. Gordon Boyd Griffith age 62 of Morrison, TN, died Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at his residence. He was born June 27, 1960, in McMinnville, TN, was the owner of Gordon’s Griffith Masonry, a member of Church of God Restoration, and was preceded in death by parents William David Isaac and Jamie Louise Cantrell Griffith, by a child Mercyann Grace Griffith, and a brother Douglas Wayne Griffith.
Gordon’s favorite hobby was basketball. He was known as “The Legend” of the Morrison School Basketball team for the high jump, which led to him being given the nickname of ‘Lightfoot’. He loved to take his wife to walk trails and go motorcycle riding. But most of all, he was concerned about the souls of his family and friends. He was a man who knew no stranger and could talk with everyone he me. Everywhere he went, he would ask this question, “If you were to die today, where would your soul be for all eternity?”
Survivors include his wife of 35 years Janette Lance Griffith, children Janette Priscilla (Travis) Lowe, Isaac Lafayette (Jennyfer) Griffith, Kristen Faith (Devin) Harmon, Christopher Matthew Griffith, Hadassah Joy Griffith, Jeremiah Jonathan Griffith, Noah James Griffith, and Ahijah Moses Griffith, grandchildren Aiyana Bowman, Hialeah Bowman, Logan Lowe, Olivia Lowe, Jahaza Griffith, Charlotte Griffith, William Boyd Harmon, Havilah Harmon, and Athens Harmon, siblings Michael David (Debra Faye) Griffith, William Glenn Griffith, Gerald Lee Griffith, and Gina Griffith Harding. Many nieces, nephews, family members, and friends also survive.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 17, 2023, in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Apostle D. Ray Tinsman will officiate. Interment will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Smithville, TN. The Griffith Family will receive friends Monday from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and again Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. at McMinnville Funeral Home.
