Golda Baker passed away on Friday, November 22, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born on March 5,1945 in Dell, Arkansas to the late Watson and Nanny Mae Long. Golda spent most of her life living in Chicago where she worked as a bookkeeper. Later in her life, Golda went to work at Brooks Grocery where she was known as “Granny” by her everyone that was around her. Golda enjoyed shopping, playing with her dogs, and most of all she spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, Golda was preceded in death by her husband, Don Baker; brother, Lynn Long, and grandson, Steven Johnson.
She is survived by her daughter Deborah Johnson; brother, Sammie Long; sisters, Linda Brewer and Fanny Smith; grandchildren, Amanda Johnson, Bud Johnson; great grandchildren, Anna Johnson, Katy Johnson, and Elijah Johnson; great grandchildren, Preston Johnson and Peyton Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
