Gloria Nan Black 71 (1954-2025) of Somerville AL passed away peacefully at her home on November 3, 2025, of Alzheimer’s disease.
Nan loved Schnauzers, was an avid Alabama football fan, loved the beach, obtained her nursing license in 1979 and was a nurse for 33 years at Huntsville Hospital she especially loved her time working in the psychiatric ward. She also was a great cook and wonderful baker.
Nan Black, was the loving wife of Jerry W. Black (72), beloved mother to two children- Sara Black (36), Andrew Black (29), and one granddaughter, Haley Black (17), Sister-in-law, Linda Grissom, of Meridianville .
Nan was born in Gadsden, AL to Ernest and Evelyn McAlister.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Evelyn McAlister, of Huntsville. Brother- Ernest McAlister II of Huntsville.
Nan was first and foremost, a dedicated wife of 42 years, to her husband, and devoted mother to her two children. She treasured her children embracing every moment with them. She especially loved her role as “Nana” to her granddaughter, enjoying each and every moment she had with her. She had a joyful, vivacious personality, and always made people around her laugh and smile. She made friends everywhere she went and was beautiful inside and out.
