Gloria Harrell Collins passed away after a lengthy battle with Alzheimers
on August 10, 2023. Gloria was born May 24,1936 to Knowlton and Etna Walker Harrell. She married Billy Ray Collins on October 7, 1955.
Gloria is survived by husband Billy Collins and her four children; William Collins (Susan), Deborah Layne (Curtis), Paige Adkison (David) and Kim Hall (Hank). She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Christen Cantrell (Jeffrey), Torie Cotter (Anthony), Mary Claire Brislin, Paul Adkison (Jenn), William Adkison (Azaline), Henry Hall and Emma Hall and also survived by seven great grandchildren, Collin Cantrell, Olivia Cantrell, Andy Brislin, Charlie Brislin, Lucy Brislin, Alex Cotter, and Ava Chandler.
Gloria and Bill owned and operated Collins Auto Parts for 53 years. During that time she also worked at Continental Grain in the accounting department. After retiring from Continental Grain, she began a new career as a realtor with Century 21 and Caldwell Banker She especially enjoyed introducing her realty clients to the beauty of Guntersville
Gloria was a life long member of the Guntersville Church of Christ. She was a member of the Guntersville Pilot Club and W.I.N. Investment Club.
Gloria enjoyed oil painting and spending time with friends. She loved to laugh and all those who love her will remember her dry sense of humor.
The family gives special thanks to the caregivers who loved and cared for our mother and family during this long journey: Jennie McCormick, Nicole Hollis, Wendy Strickland, Angie Willoughby, Ashley Cunningham, Glenda Parker, Karen DeBoard, Angela Hardy and Gay Carriker. The family also thanks the nurses, social workers, bathers and chaplains from Shepherd’s Cove Hospice and Amedisys Home Health for their support and kindness during Gloria’s illness.
A celebration of life service will be held Sunday August 20, 2023 at the Guntersville Church of Christ. The family will recive visitors at 1pm followed by the service at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Shepherd’s Cove Hospice.
