Dr. Gloria Gooch McMahan, age 78, of Nashville,TN died Sat., Oct. 18, 2014. A native of Nashville, TN, Dr. McMahan was a daughter of the late Frank and Mary Ezell Gooch. She was a dedicated, loving, and caring educator who was a retired Principal with the Metro Nashville School system who enjoyed traveling, singing and camping. Dr. McMahan was a member of Crievewood United Methodist Church, NEA, TEA, MNEA, and Delta Kappa Gamma, Alpha Psi Chapter, the Knowles Center Choraliers and Metro Nashville Sunshine Singers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Frankie Gooch Weems.
Survived by her husband of 43 years, James Thurston McMahan of Nashville, TN; niece, Nancy Weems Baker of TX; nephews, John Mark Weems of CA and David Weems of VA; great niece, Madison Baker of TX; great nephew, Jonathan Weems of VA.
Visitation will be Monday, Oct. 20, 2014 from 4pm – 8 pm at Hickory Chapel, 5852 Nolensville Rd., Nashville, TN. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 am, Tuesday, October 21, 2014 from the Chapel of Hickory Chapel, Nashville, TN with Rev. Peter van Eys officiating. Burial will follow at Riggs Cemetery in College Grove, TN.
