Mrs. Murphy was born December 5, 1934, in Cedar Hill, TN to the late Robert Hensley and Willie Mae Pollard. She attended Cedar Hill Baptist Church as a child and gave her heart to Jesus at the age of 10, thus beginning her lifelong service at her church where she continued faithful attendance until her death. She was a member of the closely-knit Jo Byrns High School class of 1952 where she was a cheerleader and co-captain of the Jo Byrns High lady’s basketball team. She married Billy Murphy following graduation and began their family together in 1955 with the birth of Bill. They were married 59 years at the time of Billy’s death in 2011.

Gloria served as a bank teller with First National Bank in Springfield for many years and considered her co-workers her extended family and her loyal customers friends.
She relished time with family remaining very active and involved in all activities the children and grandchildren participated in. She served others sacrificially with southern charm and grace always delivering a handmade gift or a delicious treat.
