Glenn Stacey Geis, 72, went to “caddy for Mom and Dad” on the afternoon on March 23, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Glenn was born in Lynwood (Los Angeles), California, on April 10, 1952, the third son of the late Walter Peter Geis and Helen Maxine Scott Geis. In 1966, the Geis family relocated to Huntsville, Alabama, where Glenn was a proud member of the first graduating class of Grissom High School in 1971. Following his graduation, Glenn began his 48-year career with Parker Hannifin Corporation, starting as a part-time painter, achieving his Journeyman License as an electrician, and retiring as a Senior Engineer Project Manager. In 1980, Glenn began a part-time pursuit of a college degree and, after many years of hard work, was a 1991 graduate of the University of Alabama in Huntsville with a B.S. in Electrical and Industrial Engineering. Following his retirement from Parker Hannifin in 2020, Glenn began his second act as the lead electrical engineer on the facilities support contract at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama.

Glenn had an outgoing personality and “never met a stranger.” He learned sign language so he could communicate with deaf colleagues in the machine shop at Parker Hannifin. Glenn had a vast knowledge of “fixing” things and enjoyed helping friends and strangers alike in all things electrical, plumbing, and mechanical. He used this expertise and his knowledge of electrical and safety codes to wire a deserving recipient’s home for Habitat for Humanity of the River Valley.

In 1980, he married the love of his life Monica Harris. When he wasn’t working or in school, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Glenn could make an enchilada casserole that was perfection. He liked to cook, but grilling was his favorite. Although he traveled extensively with his career at Parker Hannifin, his favorite trip was to vacation in Fort Morgan Beach with family. He made many wonderful memories there that are cherished by his family.

A bass player, Glenn was a founding member of a local rock band, first called Remedy, that soon became Gryphon. They entertained in clubs and venues for over 20 years, including several appearances at Big Spring Jam. Shake your fruit if you have one!

Glenn was devoted to his parents and, due to his loving care, his late mother was able to fulfill her wish to spend her final years in her home. He died in this home, surrounded by their pictures and other family memorabilia with his family by his bedside.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Monica Harris Geis of Huntsville; his daughter, Shannon Geis (Damon Daniels) of Midlothian, Virginia, from his first marriage to Elaine Aikens Loy; his sons, Peter Geis (Alison Fain-Geis) of Madison, Alabama, and Kevin Geis (Casey Blackburn Geis) of Nashville, Tennessee; and grandchildren, Emma Daniels of Midlothian, Virginia, Owen and June Anne Geis of Madison, Alabama. He is also survived by his brothers, Gregg Geis (Cynthia) of Huntsville, Alabama, and Steven Geis (Sandra) of St. Petersburg, Florida; niece, Leah Geis of St. Petersburg, Florida; nephews, Geoff Geis of Chicago, Illinois, and Ian Geis (Jessica Kowalik) of St. Petersburg, Florida; great-nephews, Finnis Geis of Chicago, Illinois, Owen Geis, and soon-to-be born twins of St. Petersburg, Florida.

A Celebration of Life for Glenn will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church soon after the Easter season. Date and time to be announced.

The Geis family wishes to thank all the family and friends who have touched the life of our dear Glenn. He will be dearly missed.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial to Habitat for Humanity of the River Valley, 400 Pratt Avenue, Huntsville, AL 35801
