Glenn Goad, 100, passed away on October 11, 2022 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Brother Anthony Muston officiating. Burial will follow in Knob Creek Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. and Tuesday from 12:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home. Condolences may be extended online at www.oakesandnichols.com.
Born May 22, 1922 in Maury County, he was the son of the late Claude and Stella Haywood Goad. His paternal grandfather, Jackson Haywood was a Baptist Preacher. His father was later elected as Sheriff of Maury County. He owned and operated a small dairy farm for over 40 years. He was a member of Knob Creek Baptist Church since 1933. During that time he served as church Treasurer, Deacon, and Sunday School Teacher.
He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Phyllis Satterfield Goad of Columbia; children, Valerie Goad Stone of Columbia; Timothy (Tammy) Goad of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Tiffany Huey, Miranda (Matthew) Brewington, Nina Goad, Toby Goad; nephew, Burton Sherrill Harris of Forrest City, North Carolina; and several great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Nadine Goad Harris.
The family would like to extend heartfelt love and appreciation to a friend that became like family during this difficult time, Cathy Martin and a special thanks also to Sandra Kinzer for helping to take care of Mr. Goad in final days.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include members of Knob Creek Baptist Church.
