Glenn Eugene Sager, age 88, of Lexington, Va., died on Wednesday, December 3, 2014.
Glenn was born in Leeds, Iowa, to Irvin Eugene Sager and Esther Early Sager. As a young man, Glenn served his country in World War II in the Pacific Theater, both in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard.
Glenn lived in Sheffield for over 40 years, where he was employed by Reynolds Metals Company, Listerhill Division. He was an active member of Sheffield First United Methodist Church, teaching Sunday School, mentoring youth in the UMYF PROGRAM, and serving on the Administrative Board during his membership. He was a den leader for the Boy Scouts of America.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret “Peggy” Wilson Sager; brother, Darryl Sager; and sisters, Maxine Sager Ebright and Ruth Sager Williams. He is survived by his wife, Jean Sager, of Lexington, Va.; his son, Wilson Sager, of Atlanta, Ga.; his daughter, Melissa Sager Ryan and husband, Michael Ryan, of Tuscumbia; his grandsons, Clay Ryan, Nathan Ryan, Mitchell Ryan, and Andrew Ryan; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will hold a private graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery in Sheffield, Alabama, In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Cramer Children’s Center, 404 W. Tennessee Street, Florence, Alabama 35633.
