Glenda Joyce Ponds, born on October 16, 1958 in Hohenwald, TN, passed away on November 28, 2023 in Savannah, Tennessee. She was the beloved daughter of the late Taylor Edna Staggs and Gladys Marie Ray Staggs Sherrill.
She was united in marriage to Roy Wayne Ponds on November 21, 1987. Mr. Ponds preceded her in death on January 6, 2021.
Glenda dedicated many years of her life as a certified nurse assistant, caring for others as if they were her own family. Her compassionate nature shone through in each interaction she had with her patients.
She treasured vacations to the mountains, shopping sprees, and cherishing precious moments spent with all of her loved ones. With an unwavering passion for NASCAR, Glenda faithfully followed Jeff Gordon and secretly harbored the desire to own a racecar.
To those closest to her, Glenda was known for her unique way of releasing frustrations – a master at slamming cabinet doors with gusto. She loved Christmas time and reveled in the opportunity to cook meals and concoct her favorite candies for her family while always wearing her favorite cozy fuzzy socks.
Mrs. Ponds departed this life on November 28, 2023 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 65 Years, 1 Month, 12 Days. She is survived by a son, Kevin Joe Nance and wife Wendy of Ramer, TN; stepson, Bryon Ponds and wife Marjorie of Adamsville, TN; bonus daughter, Jennifer Nelms and husband Dallas of Adamsville, TN – all of them were loved as her own;
three sisters, Shirley Morrow of Waynesboro, TN, Mary Jane Copeland of Savannah, TN, Faye Greer of Clifton, TN; a brother, Johnny Staggs of Waynesboro, TN; 14 Grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren; special friend, Debbie Boyette Barnes of Stantonville, TN; and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Ponds was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Carol Ann Jaco; two brothers, Samuel (Bowdie) Staggs and Freddie Gray; a sister, Betty Garrett; and a very special niece, Kayla Marie Nance.
