Gladys Sumerel Swindle Gilbert, 99, of Florence, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2015, at Mitchell-Hollingsworth Nursing Home.
Mrs. Gilbert was a native of Franklin County and a member of Sherrod Avenue Church of Christ, Florence. She was a retired secretary/tax consultant.
The funeral will be held on Monday, August 24, 2015, at 5:00 p.m., at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel, Russellville, with burial in Mt. Home Cemetery, Belgreen. Officiating will be Paul Swindle and George Barrera. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 3:00 p.m. until service time.
Survivors include son, Paul C. Swindle; sister, Kitty Hester; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband, James Huston Swindle; sons, Bryce Swindle, Sr. and Larry Swindle; granddaughter, Cynthia Swindle Kimbrough; grandson, Timothy Swindle; eleven brothers and sisters.
