Gladys Lucille Pritchard Skinner – Obituary

Gladys Lucille Pritchard Skinner age 92 passed away May 12, 2016 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

She was born August 23, 1923 in Huntingdon, the daughter of the late Fred and Vera Pritchard. She married James A. Shumate and they made their home at Humboldt and later Jackson where Mr. Shumate farmed. Mr. Shumate died in 1990. She married James H. Skinner in 1995 and they made their home at Medon, after Mr. Skinner died she made her home in South Jackson.

She was a member of the Pinson Church of God for thirty two years. She loved the youth of the Church and taught Sunday school for twenty six years. She loved family get togethers.

Mrs. Skinner is survived by three sons, James A. ‘Buck’ Shumate, Jr. of Jackson, William ‘Billy’ Shumate of Jacks Creek and Jimmy T. Shumate of Jackson; five daughters, Anne Lively of Jackson, Sherry Hardee of Jackson, Brenda Vann of Medon, Pat Moore of Jackson and Debbie Mulliniks of Jackson; twenty eight grandchildren, sixty one great grandchildren and thirty two great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Gordon Pritchard of Jackson and Charles Pritchard of Knoxville and one sister, Grace Redden of Milan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, James A. Shumate and James H. Skinner and one brother, Fred Pritchard, Jr. and three sisters, Wilma Newsom, Stella Mae Williams and Pat Blankenship and two grandchildren; Jackie Leon Vann and Jimmy Allen Hardee, Jr.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday May 14, 2016 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel with Curtis Howard officiating. Burial will follow in Cave Springs Cemetery in Chester County.

The family will receive friends at Casey Chapel beginning at 10:00 AM Saturday until service time of 1:00 PM Saturday.
