Gilbert Ray Lang – Obituary

Memorial service for Gilbert Ray Lang, age 68, of Decatur, will be Thursday, December 13, 2012, 6:00 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Scotty Hogan officiating.  The family will receive friends for one hour prior to service at the funeral home.

 Mr. Lang, who died Monday, December 10, 2012, in Marengo County, was born April 13, 1944, in Meridian, MS, to Uban Clarence Lang and Alice Beatrice Kemp Lang.   He lived most of his life in Meridian, MS, but was a resident of the Decatur area for the past 15 years.  Mr. Lang attended Westmeade Baptist Church.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved the outdoors.
He is survived by two daughters, Daphne Baker (Richard) of Decatur, and Melia Fuller of Meridian, MS; three brothers, Willie Frank “Buster” Lang of Heflin, LA, A.C. “Buddy” Lang of Hickory, MS, and Raymond Lang (Mabel) of Dekalb, MS; three sisters, Leona Smith of Meridian, MS, Loraine Mosley (Wiley) of Collinsville, MS, and Louise Smith, of Arkansas; and three grandchildren, Brittany Baker of Birmingham, Brooke Baker McNutt (A.J.) of Calera, and Morgan Fuller of Meridian, MS.
In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests memorial donations to Meals on Wheels, 1909 Central Parkway, S.W., Decatur, AL 35601, or your favorite charity.
