Gilbert Fierro – Obituary

Gilbert Fierro, 77, Russellville, passed away suddenly on Sunday, November 17, 2013 at Helen Keller Hospital.

Mr. Fierro served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a wonderful husband; loving father and grandfather, and a friend to everyone he met. He always considered himself as a “Mexican Hillbilly” and loved Alabama football. He was loved by everyone who knew him and will be missed by all.

The visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Spry Memorial Chapel. Officiating at the service will be Bro. Kenneth Reed, followed by military honors. Burial will be at Dempsey Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Hazeline Hacker Fierro; children, Sheila Fierro Werley, Yolanda Fierro, Debra Fierro, Patricia Partain, Denise Adams (husband, Terry), Bill Davis (wife, Donna); Diane Davis Townsend, Mark Chaney (wife, Misty); 26 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; great-grandchildren; siblings, Paul Mundell (wife, Sheila), Eileen Gray (husband, Earl), Allen Mundell (wife, Terri), Ricardo Inzunza (wife, Carol), Dorothy Lee Mezta (husband, Jim); and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Mundell and mother, Antonia Figuero.

The pallbearers will be Gaylon Partain, Elmer Clay, Wayne Palmer, Willie Davis, Matt Royce, Tim Partain, Richard Partain, and Daniel Clay.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the ambulance service and staff of Helen Keller ER for the love and care shown towards our family.

Spry Memorial Chapel assisted the family.
