Gifford (Dee) Myhan, age 92, passed away Monday, Aug. 10, 2015. Visitation will be today, 5-8 p.m., at Spry-Williams Funeral Home, Florence. The funeral will be on Thursday, Aug. 13, at 2 p.m. at Cloverdale Church of Christ. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will be in Cloverdale Church of Christ cemetery. Officiating at the service will be Ronnie Pannell, Sonny Bogus, Alvin Alston and son, Jerry Myhan. Congregational singing will be led by great-grandson, Austin Swinea.
Pallbearers will be Randall, Ronnie, Sawyer, Raleigh and Jake Stamps, Evan Swinea, Peyton Schulte and Kenny Franks. Honorary pallbearers will be Pvt. Ethan Smith, Wally Schulte, Lukas and Garrett Myhan, Dennis Swinea, Randy Parrish, Sonny O’Kelley, Larry Kelly, Charlie South, Boyce Young and Junior Myrick.
Mr. Myhan was a member of Cloverdale Church of Christ, where he served many years as an elder. In recent months, he attended Jacksonburg Church of Christ. He was a dedicated employee of Mars Hill Bible School for 56 years. He loved gardening and, as long as he was able, had the prettiest garden in Cloverdale.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, wife, Earline Holt Myhan. Also preceding him were parents, Jim and Clevie Myhan; brothers, Albert, Raymond, J.C., Coburn and Chester Myhan; sister, Gladys Webb; and son-in-law, Clayburn Stamps.
Survivors include children, Faye Stamps, Kay Bullion (Don) and Jerry Myhan (Dianne); grandchildren, Rita Franks, Rhonda Swinea, Randall and Ronnie Stamps, Wally and Peyton Schulte, Britney Stanojevic, Garrett and Lukas Myhan and Meredith Pietzman; great-grandchildren, Maleah Moss, Ethan Smith, Austin, Laken and Evan Swinea, Sawyer, Raleigh, Jake and Rachael Stamps, Vuk and Sofia Stanojevic, Emma, Libby, Marcus and Cash Myhan and Ella and Hannah Pietzman; sisters-in-law, Gertrude and Christine Holt; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Myhan Scholarship Fund, c/o Mars Hill Bible School, 698 Cox Creek Parkway, Florence, AL 35630.
