Gertie Ruby Bevis, 92, passed from this life Friday, May 3, 2013. She was a life-long homemaker.
Visitation will be at Monday, May 6, at Shackelford Funeral Home in Collinwood, Tenn. Family visitation is 10-11 a.m., and family and friends visitation is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The funeral will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Brother Sonny Owens officiating. Burial following at Balentine Cemetery.
Mrs. Bevis was a former member of Eastwood Church of Christ and a present member of Petersville Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Monroe and Nancy Elizabeth Holt; her infant son, Lawrence Paul; son, Arlon Eugene; and loving husband of 63 years, Doil Bevis; brothers, Carl, Vernon and Warren Holt; sisters, Ruby Holt, Goldie Holt Ayers and Esther Holt Eaton; stepmother, Irene Martin Holt; and halfbrother, Charlie Holt.
She is survived by her three sons, Fred Doil Bevis, James Arnel Bevis (Sue), Jimmy Lee Bevis, all of Florence; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren; a very special halfsister, Ival Holt Rainey, of Waycross, Ga.; and also a very special niece, Ivon Eaton Pierce, of Florence; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Our mother will be greatly missed by her sons, family and friends.
Pallbearers are family and friends.
