Geraldine W. Kallam, surrounded by her family, went home to be with her Savior on February 25, 2018, one day before her 91st birthday. Born in Rochester, New York, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Dr. James Gray Kallam Sr.; parents, Harry and Carrie Witmeyer; brothers, Forrest, Stan and Don; sisters, Marion, Peg and Esther.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter, Jimmy Kallam (Suzi), Tim Kallam (Christi) and Beth Kallam Ellsworth (Bruce); seven grandchildren, Kelly Fleming (Gorden), Jackie Paynter (Matt), Graylynn Rodrigues (Manny), Ben Kallam, Katie Kallam, Allie Wolfe (Daniel) and Zach Ellsworth; eight great-grandchildren, and her sisters and best friend, Arlene Hack.
One of Gerry’s greatest joys was playing the piano, especially while accompanying her husband, Jim. “Mom Mom” took great delight in spending time with her family, who loved her caring, kind, and witty spirit. The family is grateful to Ashley and Donna for their compassionate care.
Memorial service will be held at Mountain Brook Community Church (3001 Hwy. 280 E, Birmingham, AL 35243) on Saturday, March 3, at 2 p.m. with visitation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the missions programs of Mountain Brook Community Church, First Bible Church Decatur, or Church at Charlotte
