Geraldine Lydia Farmer, 82, passed peacefully from this life on Sept. 10, 2014, surrounded by her husband of 60 years, Dr. Glendon LaVerne Farmer, and her family. She was born July 26, 1932, to Bernice Woolverton Holloway and John Walter Holloway, formerly of Center Ridge, Arkansas and Bragg City, Missouri. She was a graduate of Bragg City High School and received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Harding College in 1959.
The Farmers were united in marriage Feb. 6, 1954, in Bragg City, Missouri, where they taught in the Bragg city schools until 1965. From 1965 to 1967, Geraldine taught in the Knoxville city schools while her husband was a graduate student at the University of Tennessee. In 1967, they moved to Florence, Alabama where Dr. Farmer became superintendent of the Florence city schools and where Geraldine was a teacher at Forest Hills Elementary. They were active members of Chisholm Hills Church of Christ. They retired in 1987, and they relocated to Conway, Arkansas in 1994.
Mrs. Farmer is survived by her husband, Glendon; three children, Sherry Holder, Patti Summers, and John Farmer; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
She was buried at Crestlawn Cemetery in Conway, Arkansas.
