Geraldine Hughes, age 73, of Albertville, Alabama, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at her residence under the care of Gentiva Hospice.
Geraldine was affectionately known as “Deaner” to her friends and “Dean Dean” to her nieces and nephews. She was deeply loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her son, Jeff Hughes (Lisa); sisters, Mildred Bankston (Voss), Ann Light (David), and Kathy Reese; brother, Donald Baker; grandchildren, Bailey Pittman and Alexis Moore; great-grandchildren, Gracie and Tucker Moore and Eloise Pittman; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, J. Hugh Oliver Baker and Opal Mae Robins Baker, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Hughes; and siblings, George Baker, J.B. Baker, and Patricia Pearce.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Adams Brown Service Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Adams Brown Service Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Carey Sims and Bro. Lewis Smith officiating. Burial will follow at New Prospect Cemetery in Swearengin, Alabama.
